Grief Support Group
The AUMC Grief Support Group is designed to help people cope with grief and mourning following the loss of a loved one. The meetings will provide an opportunity for discussions, sharing, and for giving and receiving support. Discussions will encompass the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual components of the grief process and the experience of loss while honoring the individual experience of each member. Topics will include discussion of issues relevant to the grief journey such as managing the stress of grief and loss, personal coping and adaptation, managing holidays and other significant dates, and maintaining a healthy life style. The group will provide a respectful, caring environment that supports the personal healing of each member.
For more information or to register for this support group please contact Kim Thomas at 940.464.1333 x102 or Kim@ArgyleUMC.org.
Hospital and Home Visitation
Visitation is provided by either of our staff ministers or our lay members. Please contact Kim Thomas at 940.464.1333 x102 or Kim@ArgyleUMC.org immediately so a visit can be made in a timely manner.
Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life challenges. The role of a Stephen Minister is to listen and care, not to advise or give counsel, and to recognize when a person’s needs exceed what they can provide. Stephen Ministers maintain only one caring relationship at any given time and usually meet with their care receivers on a weekly basis. Confidentiality is preserved at all times by not discussing care receivers by name or by implication. For referral, please contact Alan Albarran at 972.989.7513 or Albarran@UNT.edu, or call the church office at 940.464.1333.
If you'd like to learn more about Stephen Ministry please visit our Stephen Ministry page.
Prayer Requests
Your prayer requests are received and sent to the confidential prayer chain for intercessory prayers on your behalf. You can relay your prayer requests via the Prayer Request tab on the bottom of any page on our website or by contacting Kim Thomas at 940.464.1333 x102 or Kim@ArgyleUMC.org.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Over the centuries shawls have come to symbolize shelter, peace, and spiritual sustenance. Since the inception of the Prayer Shawl Ministry in 1998, people have donated their time and talents by creating hand-knitted and crocheted shawls for those in need. If you are interested in the Prayer Shawl Ministry please contact Connie Dubois at Jane Kayler at 940.262.3182 or cdubois76@gmail.com.
