Daring Faith Sermon Series
Jan

Daring Faith Sermon Series

We have a bold, robust, and resilient faith—grounded in the transforming grace of God. We have a Daring Faith.

In Christmas, we celebrated the Daring Grace of God that we witnessed in God stepping out of Heaven and becoming fully human and fully divine in Jesus Christ. It is because of God’s grace that we have the gift of faith. We know this faith because it is grounded in the life-changing, world transforming grace of God, and it is bold, robust, and resilient. In Daring Faith, we talk about living our faith “out loud” by responding to God’s calling, growing in our giftedness—saying “yes” to God’s grace sending us out into life to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Pauses for Advent
Nov

to Dec 24

Pauses for Advent

Join the Argyle UMC staff and friends as we read Pauses for Advent together each day beginning on November 27. Join us on the Argyle UMC Facebook page at 7 AM each morning for reading, stories and prayer. Books will be available beginning November 5 for $7 a piece at the welcome desk or by contacting Jennifer Tolin at jennifer@argyleumc.org.

In this beautifully minimalist book, Trevor Hudson focuses on one biblical word of wonder each day of Advent. Pausing for a few moments to read Hudson’s meditations on the word for the day will guide readers to a deeper understanding of Advent. Hudson also briefly explores the lives and thoughts of 4 significant characters in the Christmas story, encouraging readers to immerse themselves in the dramatic story. His simple approach provides a doable daily practice and gently leads readers to discover how they can open their hearts and lives more generously to God.

Daring Grace
Nov

Daring Grace

Our consumer economy has hijacked Christmas.

While we love made-for-TV movies, food, family and gifts, Christmas is about so much more. It is a conspiracy - a revolutionary act by God to ultimately undermine the power of sin and darkness in human history. In God’s work of Daring Grace, God risked taking on human form so that we could know the power of a love that can change the world and transform our lives. Beginning Nov. 26, we will recall God’s willingness to hear us in our greatest times of darkness, step into the fragile times of life with us, and give us the strength to live with Daring Grace.

Tables, Tailgates, & Take Out

When we share a meal with family and friends, we are doing so much more than eating. We are building our community, strengthening our lives and learning to love each other freely.

Everyday God is doing amazing things in our lives and in our church. A lot of those good things happen around tables and food with good friends and people we love to live life with. In Tables, Tailgates and Take Out we are going to look at how God’s people gathered around tables and food in ways that not only filled stomachs, but fed souls.

Worship Without Walls

Worship can take place in many forms, and serving others is one of the main examples of worship that Jesus taught us. Through WOW, our community is reminded that worship isn’t just attending church one day a week—it’s the act of serving others on a day-to-day basis; it’s the little things that accumulate into a lifestyle of worship. Join us for our annual Worship Without Walls event May 20-21, 2017 to join us in our mission to transform the world one life at a time!
